Sooo...no drawings today to post, however my hair is the most amazing color pink/magenta ever...I'm counting that as a creative endeavor for the day :)

Sooo tired...
It's been a looong day. I would so very much love to have a wonderful creepation to post, but alas I do not. More to come soon!!!

Really???
Yes, the end of another day is approaching fast & It's been along one. No creating today...ah, sigh... However, I plan on setting up my new work space tomorrow so hopefully things will get rolling then!!!

And again...
Once again I find myself with another day flying by and all too fast approaching the stroke of midnight. Lot's of changes & new beginnings...good things, but it's definitely taking a bit of time away from creating. After I get a few things tied up, hopefully tomorrow, I'll be back on it!!! I had to post a little entry to keep in line with my goal :)

Stuck...
I'm keeping up with a daily posting, however I don't have any work to post up today. The day got away from me & I didn't take the time out to draw, paint, create...that just means more to do tomorrow!!! Hoping to catch some inspiration in my dreams...

A New Beginning!!!
I decided what better day to embark upon a fresh start on an old goal than the 3rd day of the New Year. Why the 3rd day, well, as you can tell I sorta have a thing for that number :) My plan is to update every day. I'll be documenting different projects I'm working on as well as various rambles from time to time & news & the like. My plan is to do this every day for the rest of the year so that at the end I will have an online journal so to speak of my creative (and otherwise) endeavors. Please do follow along if you like what you see!!!

Finals Over, now time to Draw!!!
She's coming through...finals are over so I had a moment to sit down with my latest grrrl and begin inking her in...I hope she isn't too cross with me for neglecting her, but unfortunately final projects consumed most of my time the past weeks... By the look on her face, I think she's forgiven me...

Vector Craziness!!!
So I finally saved my Illustrator file so that I could put it up on here properly :) This was my first attempt at creating a vector based image...it was a homework assignment so it is directly from a photograph from the amazing band Miss Derringer (yes, text incorporation was part of the assignment) It was really fun to learn how to do a vector illustration & I'm quite happy with the results of my first attempt at this new medium for me :)

Keeping it going...
To keep in line with my goal, I'm posting this even though I haven't uploaded a pic or taken one yet! I started working on a sketch this evening, but I really want to start on a series of paintings soon of some of my grrrls...more on that soon!!! Still planning on posting that vector art piece that I did as homework too... So many things to take pics of it would seem :)

Updates & Vector Craziness!!!
I've been taking a Photoshop & an Illustrator class over the summer & the homework has been quite lengthy...I'm learning tons & having such fun! I finished my fist vector, posterized art poster for an assignment due today in my Illustrator class. I just have to figure out the right way to save it so that I can upload a copy of it on here. I'll be doing that tomorrow! It was actually really fun & I was super pleased with the outcome!
I also have a WIP sketch that I just need to upload to the computer, which I will also be doing tomorrow!!!
So many things going on these days, it's great :)

Jeremy Cross @ Hyaena Gallery
Last night I went to the fantastic Hyaena Gallery to attend the opening of "Under the Influence", the new Jeremy Cross exhibit... His work is outstanding, and to see these pieces in person was amazing. I couldn't pull myself away & kept inching closer & closer to see all the details & brush strokes. There is so much intensity & life in his work...seeing it up close rather than just through images on the internet is truly a treat, completely mesmerizing... I especially loved his series of eye studies & his Tom Waits portrait...truly outstanding!!! I adore Hyaena Gallery & always look forward to their openings. The show will be up until the 31st - don't miss out!!!
Back on Track!!!
So life got in the way the past few week (how rude, the nerve of it) but now I'm back & ready to continue on with my goal of posting every day!!! I suppose that is why it is called a goal though...it's something to strive for :)

Hyaena Gallery - Fictitious Pulp Show!!!
Tonight I went for my second time to the fabulous Hyaena Gallery (I can’t believe I hadn’t gone to this place sooner). My first trip was their last opening, “Spinestealer” (absolutely incredible!!!). This show was stunning as well. What a great idea for a show…covers for various types of media that don’t exist, but should…I most definitely concur with the “should” on that!!!
I really enjoyed the entire show, but I must say Dan Harding’s piece, “The Conjuring”, really caught my eye. There is something about his work that I just find mesmerizing… Another piece, a very different style from Harding, was Kat Philbin’s, “Prehistoric Passion”…this piece just kept me smiling from the inside out. I really must say most honestly , that every piece is truly wonderful & this is a show not to be missed!!!
What could be better…in Hyaena you not only get an eclectic boutique, but also a truly unique gallery. If you haven’t already made a trip, you absolutely must… I know I’ll be attending all of their openings & making many a trips just for fun as well. Definitely a new favorite place of mine in the LA area…so glad to have found Hyaena!!!

No Internet Access = No Posts :(
So, my goal of daily posting was abruptly halted when my modem decided to take a dive…apparently it wasn’t terribly happy…poor little thing that it is… Well, as all things in life it seems, I had to wait days for a new modem & the connection to finally be established again!!! I know this is a bit trite perhaps, but I felt the need to get it off my chest…ahhh…now I can breathe :)

Past entries & Experimenting fun!!!
Here is a little catch-up of what I've been posting on Tumblr starting the 20th of July. I'm including these all in one post in hopes of making this easier. From now on I'll be double posting (on here as well as Tumblr) to see how my experiment pans out :)

The Goal!!!
The goal of this blog is to chronicle the daily goings on in the life of one creepy, crafty grrrl (yes, that would be me) as I move along on the path of my dreams…art in all it’s forms. There may be stumbles, there may be falls, there may be smooth ground without so much as one misstep…whatever the conditions, the goal is to chronicle them all!!!
This chronicling will be done with a daily entry; be it a sketch, a painting, a new creepation (as I lovingly like to refer to all my creations)…the goal is to post every day one piece of creativity that happens to make it’s way through the cracks & crevices of my dreams, trickles over into my consciousness, and then finds it’s way onto or into the creative outlet of my choosing!!!
Please do follow along on my journey…it’s bound to be an entertaining ride at the very least!!!

New Blog vs Old Blog
So, I've decided to start a Tumblr blog. I have heard different comments from different people on which blog site is best...Tumblr or Blogger? So, with that, I decided to experiment. I've been updating my Tumblr blog daily for a little over a week now. If you'd like to check it out & follow me here is the link:
My Tumblr Blog
I've decided to truly test this experiment I'll post on here as well...sorta a double posting I suppose. Anyway, I'll see how it works out & go from there. Thanks to my followers & anyone else who happens to be reading this. I truly appreciate your interest & support :)
And now...let the experiment begin!!!

Most recent creepation...Another one of my Grrrls
Here is my most recent creepation through my sketches. She's been described as "Deathly Sexy" by a dear friend of mine...I think I'll have to use that as the title of the painting that I intend on doing based on this sketch :)

First Piece of 2010!!!
I've been meaning to post this for awhile, but am now just finding the time to finally do so... This is my first finished painting of the new year. I wanted to mess around with a different type of background; I've always loved incorporating text into artwork. I really enjoyed creating this piece, and hope you enjoy viewing it as well...

Lil' Fun Time
Just one of my lil' creepations, a skelliefly, for your viewing pleasure. I had fun bringing this lil' guy to life.

Sisters of...
Here are a couple of drawings that I did of the humanoid creepations that inhabit the world inside my head. Each "Sister," as I refer to them as, represent different aspects of the emotional spectrum. These are just some quick drawings that I did, using my time constraint again, to try and start furthering the design of these beautiful grrrls.

Chubs, not Grubs!!!
I very much enjoyed the time constraint, and decided to do a set of timed pieces that focused on a new creepation that I had envisioned: Chubs, or Chublings for the babies, I call them. I absolutely love these guys and was excited to watch as they came to life through paint & brush...
Time: 1hr, "Sliding Along", 2009, 7"x 3"
Time: 1 hr 30 mins, "Napping Devil Chub", 2009, 5 7/8"x 3 5/8"
Time: 2 hrs 15 mins, "Chublings", 2009, 5 7/8"x 3 1/2"
Time: 2hrs 10 mins , "Chub O' War", 2009, 9"x1 7/8"
Time: 2 hrs 10 mins, "Pile O' Chublings", 2009, 4 3/8"x3 3/8"
Time: 2 hrs 10 mins, "Playtime with Skellieflies", 2009, 3 7/8"x4 3/8"
Inspired by my, "Pile O' Chublings"
A Lesson in Restraint...Breaking Old Habits
After completing the piece, "Helping Out a Friend," I tallied up how many hours I had spent on painting, not including the set-up & initial prep. I believe it was somewhere around the 23+ hour mark. Now, for a 4"x6" painting that is an awfully long time I thought to myself.
I know that I tend to spend too much time on things, tweaking small bits here & there, rather than just going with my first instinct. I needed to find a way to trust my true instincts and not over-think every brush stroke that I laid down. Giving myself a strict time constraint was the first first lesson I decided to try.
Each of the following pieces were done with the time constraint of 1 hour total. This hour time limit didn't include the initial set-up, but rather the actual work done on the piece itself. All of these pieces were inspired by this new world that I was seeing take form in my mind. They are rough, but I still feel they are "complete" in their own right.
